Ports of Monaco, a luxurious setting

Located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, the Principality of Monaco has two ports well worth a visit.

The natural bay of Port Hercule

A natural bay at the foot of the rock and the Côte d’Azur’s only deep-water port.

Originally, Port Hercule was a place where only merchant ships (Phoenicians, Phocaeans, then Romans) called, but today it welcomes superb yachts. It was Prince Albert 1st who had it fitted out at the beginning of the 20th century. The statue of Hercules, protector of the Principality’s port, can now be admired.

The Yacht Club de Monaco, founded in 1953 and chaired since 1984 by H.S.H. Prince Albert II, has its new headquarters on the Quai Louis II since 2014, a masterly building designed by architect Norman Foster.

Luxury yachts can also call here for a stopover or a longer stay.

The port of Fontvieille: a breathtaking extension to the sea

The port of Fontvieille: a breathtaking extension to the seaArtificial port built when the Fontvielle district was extended into the sea.

A yachting harbor par excellence, the Fontvieille harbor was created as part of Monaco’s economic development, during the seaward extension carried out between 1966 and 1973. Situated in the heart of the residential district of Fontvieille, the marina enjoys a prime location, offering ideal shelter from the wind and swell.

The sublime Mala beach

La Mala beach is probably the most beautiful beach on the Côte d’Azur… Its exclusive, privileged location makes it one of the few oases still preserved from mass tourism.

An unspoilt cove in a warm, intimate setting

In an unspoilt cove, with crystal-clear waters and breathtaking views over the Mediterranean and the Saint-Jean Cap-Ferrat peninsula, just a stone’s throw from Monaco, there’s a public area where anyone can sit down. There are also two private beach restaurants that make you want to settle in with a cocktail, a fish dish and the sea as your only view: Eden and La Mala Reserve.

The atmosphere is much calmer than elsewhere in the region. All the ingredients are there for a pleasant moment with family, friends or lovers.
